Digital Marketing in Guwahati: What It Costs, What Works, and How to Choose an Agency
Most advice written about hiring a digital marketing agency in Guwahati could have been written about any city in India, because it was. It lists services, promises growth, and never once mentions that your customers are spread across seven states, that half your audience reads Assamese first, or that the auction you are bidding in is thinner than anything in Delhi and will stay that way for a few more years.
This is the version with the numbers in it. What each service actually costs here, what it should be doing for a Guwahati business, and the questions that separate an agency that understands this market from one running a template. It applies whether you are shortlisting a digital marketing company in Guwahati, buying a single service, or deciding whether to hire anyone at all.
If you are looking for our own service page rather than a guide, it is here: digital marketing agency in Guwahati.
What Guwahati's numbers actually say
Four figures worth knowing before anyone spends your money.
Assam's service area carries 28.51 million wireless subscribers. That is the state as a whole at the quarter ending 31 December 2025, and it is a large addressable audience by any standard. (TRAI Quarterly Performance Indicator Report)
Urban teledensity in Assam is 193.29%. Rural is 57.29%. Teledensity counts connections per hundred people, so urban Assam has close to two connections per person and rural Assam has roughly one for every two. That gap is the single most useful targeting fact in the state: the reachable, transacting, second-SIM-carrying audience is concentrated in Guwahati and a handful of towns. A campaign drawn across the whole state on a modest budget spends most of it reaching people who are far harder to convert. (TRAI)
The service sector is 44.00% of Assam's gross state value added, against 35.54% for industry and 20.46% for agriculture. Services are the majority of the economy, and services are what advertise. (Economic Survey of Assam 2025-26)
Assam's GSDP is ₹7,45,293 crore at current prices for 2025-26, growing 15.84%, with per capita income at ₹1,85,429. Read the per capita figure carefully — at constant 2011-12 prices it is ₹93,351, and the gap between those two numbers is inflation rather than prosperity. Price your offer against the second number. (Economic Survey of Assam 2025-26)
One more, older but still the best available: at the 2011 Census, Kamrup Metropolitan had the largest urban population of any district in Assam, at 10,37,011. Fifteen years on the real figure is materially higher, but the ranking has not changed. Guwahati is the only genuinely metropolitan consumer market in the region.
Website design in Guwahati: what the site has to do
A website design company in Guwahati will quote you for a five-page site with a contact form. That is not the brief. In this market a website has exactly two jobs, and they are different for different businesses.
For a trading, wholesale or dealership business, the site is a credibility document. Your buyer is another business owner, often in Shillong or Dimapur or Agartala, who has heard your name from someone and is checking whether you are real before they call. They want your product lines, your terms, your years in business, a landline as well as a mobile, and a photograph of premises that exist. They will not fill in a form. Build for the phone call.
For a consumer business — clinic, school, hotel, showroom — the site is a conversion surface, and the standard is set by whatever national brand your customer used last week. Load time matters more than design here. So does having prices, or at least price ranges, somewhere on the page.
Three things Guwahati sites get wrong with unusual regularity:
- Mobile-last design. With urban teledensity near 193%, assume your visitor is on a phone on a variable connection. A site that takes six seconds to become usable has lost most of them before it renders.
- No Assamese anywhere. You do not need a full second language version. You do need your key pages to acknowledge that a large share of your customers think in Assamese, and for anything consumer-facing, a Hindi or Assamese line in the ad creative that carries through to the page.
- A contact form and nothing else. A WhatsApp number that somebody actually answers converts several times better here than a form that promises a reply in 24 hours.
What it costs. A credible business website in this market runs from roughly ₹35,000 for a well-built brochure site to ₹1,50,000 and up for something with booking, catalogue or multi-language handling. Anything quoted under ₹15,000 is a template with your logo on it, and you will pay the difference later in rebuilds. More on how we approach this on the website design and development page.
Google Ads in Guwahati: the cheap auction, while it lasts
This is the part of the market most worth acting on quickly, and the reason is unglamorous: not enough businesses here are bidding.
Cost per click in Guwahati is a fraction of what the same intent costs in Delhi or Bangalore. For wholesale and distribution keywords in particular, many categories have almost no serious competition. A Google Ads agency in Guwahati that tells you the market is saturated is describing a different city, and the same goes for any PPC agency in Guwahati quoting metro-level budgets as the entry point.
Three things decide whether a Google Ads account works here:
Geography, set deliberately. Most Guwahati accounts are set to a radius around the city, which is wrong for a large share of businesses. If you sell to traders, patients, students or travellers from across the Northeast, your targeting should follow your customers into Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and northern Bengal. If you run a neighbourhood clinic, it should not. Getting this one setting wrong is the most expensive mistake in the account, and it is made constantly.
Search terms, read monthly. Twenty minutes a month in the search terms report is the highest-return work in any small account. In this market it matters twice over, because thin auctions mean Google reaches further for matches and serves your ad against queries that have nothing to do with you.
Landing pages that match the ad. Sending every campaign to the homepage wastes a third of the budget. It is also the single most common thing we find when we audit an account someone else has been running.
What it costs. Management starts from ₹15,000–₹18,000 a month, with ad spend paid straight to Google and never marked up by us. Sensible starting budgets sit at ₹15,000–₹35,000 a month for wholesale and B2B categories, and ₹30,000–₹70,000 for travel, hospitality and healthcare where you are competing with national players. See the Google Ads and pay-per-click (PPC) pages for how we structure accounts and what you own.
Facebook and Instagram ads in Guwahati
The thing a Facebook ads agency in Guwahati should tell you first is which of your objectives Meta ads are actually good for here, and which they are not. This is also where a traditional advertising agency in Guwahati and a performance team tend to part company: one is selling reach, the other is accountable for what the reach produced.
Meta works well in this market for consumer categories with a visual product and an impulse or seasonal decision: restaurants, retail, salons, gyms, clinics running specific procedures, schools during admission windows, and above all travel. A hotel or operator here is not really advertising to Assam at all — the buyer is a family in Bengaluru or Pune deciding where to go in October, and reaching them costs very little against what the booking is worth.
Meta works badly here for high-consideration B2B. If you sell to other traders, the people you want are on Meta but not in a buying frame of mind, and you will generate cheap leads that never close. We would rather tell you that before taking the budget than explain it in month three.
Two operational points that decide the result:
- Creative fatigue arrives fast in a small audience. The Guwahati-plus-Northeast audience is not large. Run the same three creatives for a month and your cost per result will climb whatever the targeting says. Plan on refreshing creative every two to three weeks, not quarterly.
- Language earns its keep in the creative, not the caption. An Assamese or Hindi hook in the first three seconds of a video changes cost per result more reliably than any audience adjustment we have tested in this region.
What it costs. ₹15,000–₹30,000 a month of ad spend is enough to do something real for a single-location consumer business here. Travel and hospitality in season want ₹30,000–₹70,000. Our approach is on the Facebook and Instagram advertising page.
SEO in Guwahati: winnable, slowly
SEO services in Guwahati are worth buying for one reason: the competition is genuinely weak, and the queries are genuinely valuable. Ranking for "northeast India tour packages" or a wholesale category plus "Guwahati" is achievable in a way the equivalent Delhi query is not.
It is also slow, and any agency promising first-page results in 30 days is selling you something else. What actually moves the needle here:
- Google Business Profile before anything else. For a local business in Guwahati, a complete, actively maintained Business Profile with real photographs, correct hours, services listed and a steady flow of reviews will out-earn six months of on-site work. If your profile is thin, start there. This is also the only way to compete for "near me" searches, which no amount of blog content will win.
- Reviews as a ranking input and a conversion input. Trust here is heavily local and reputation-led. Review count and recency affect both where you appear and whether anyone calls.
- Content that answers regional questions. Queries about the Northeast get asked nationally and answered badly. That gap is the opportunity.

Lead generation: the part everyone gets wrong
Every service above produces enquiries. What happens next is where most Guwahati budgets are wasted.
The single largest determinant of whether a lead generation campaign works is how fast someone replies. Not the targeting, not the creative, not the budget. A prospect who fills in a form or sends a WhatsApp message is usually contacting two or three businesses in the same sitting. The first specific answer normally wins, and "specific" is doing real work in that sentence — a price range beats a promise to call back.
Three things to fix before increasing spend:
- Answer within minutes, during the hours people actually enquire. For consumer categories that means evenings and weekends, not 10 to 6 on weekdays.
- Qualify on the form. Fewer submissions and a higher close rate is the better trade, every time.
- Track what closes, not what submits. An agency reporting form fills is reporting its own performance. An agency reporting closed business is reporting yours.

What a Guwahati budget should look like
Prices for digital marketing services in Guwahati vary more than they should, largely because so few agencies publish any. Ours are below. The fee and the media budget are two different things: you pay Google and Meta directly, on your own card, and we never touch the difference. Any quote that merges them into one figure is concealing the split for a reason.
Monthly managementSensible ad spendLocal services & retail | from ₹15,000 | ₹15,000–₹30,000
Wholesale & distribution B2B | from ₹15,000 | ₹15,000–₹35,000
Healthcare | from ₹18,000 | ₹35,000–₹80,000
Travel, hotels & tour operators | from ₹18,000 | ₹30,000–₹70,000
Website, one-off | ₹35,000–₹1,50,000+ | —
Two honest notes. First, for several Guwahati categories the first ₹20,000 belongs in your Google Business Profile and your review count rather than in ads, and we will say so. Second, if you are spending under about ₹10,000 a month on ads, an agency fee on top rarely pays for itself — run it yourself for a quarter and come back when the numbers justify help.
How to choose a digital marketing agency in Guwahati
There is no such thing as the best digital marketing agency in Guwahati in the abstract — only the one that fits what you sell and who buys it. These six questions will tell you more than any portfolio, and they work just as well on us as on anyone else.
1. Who owns the ad account? The correct answer is you, on your own Google and Meta accounts, with the agency as a user. If an agency runs your campaigns inside its own account, you cannot leave with your data, your history or your conversion tracking. Ask before you sign.
2. What is your fee, separately from ad spend? If the answer is a single bundled number, you do not know what you are paying for media and cannot tell whether the spend is being marked up.
3. What geography will you target, and why? This is the Guwahati-specific question. An agency that has not thought about whether your customers are in Kamrup Metro or across eight states has not thought about your business.
4. What will you report, and how often? Impressions and reach are not results. Enquiries, cost per enquiry, and ideally closed business are.
5. Who actually does the work? In a market this size it matters whether your account is handled by the person you met or by a trainee running six accounts.
6. What would you tell me not to buy? An agency that wants to sell you every service it offers is selling a package, not a diagnosis. There is almost always something on the list that is wrong for your business this year.
And one thing to check yourself, which costs nothing: search your own category in Guwahati and see who appears. If the agency pitching you cannot rank or advertise for its own service in its own city, ask why.
When not to hire an agency at all
Three situations where the honest answer is no.
- Your Google Business Profile is empty. Fix that first. It is free and it will outperform paid work in most local categories.
- Nobody answers the phone. Advertising a business that cannot respond turns budget into complaints.
- You have no idea what a customer is worth. Without that number you cannot tell whether any campaign is working, and neither can we.

FAQ
How much does a website cost in Guwahati?
Roughly ₹35,000 for a well-built brochure site, ₹1,50,000 and upwards once you need booking, a catalogue or more than one language. Below about ₹15,000 you are buying a template with your logo dropped into it, and the saving comes back as a rebuild within two years.
What does Google Ads management cost here, and is the ad spend included?
Management starts at ₹15,000–₹18,000 a month by service. Ad spend is yours and separate — paid to Google from your own account, never routed through us and never marked up.
Is Google Ads expensive in Guwahati?
No, and that is the opportunity. Cost per click here is a fraction of the metro equivalent, and several wholesale and B2B categories have almost no serious bidders.
How long before Google Ads produces enquiries in Guwahati?
Search campaigns usually produce enquiries inside a fortnight, because you are buying demand that already exists. SEO is a six-to-twelve month project. Meta sits between the two and lives or dies on creative.
Google Ads or Facebook ads — which should a Guwahati business start with?
Search first if there is existing demand — if somebody in Shillong types your category into Google this week, buy that click. Meta first if the category is one people do not think to look for, or if the product sells on a photograph and a season. Either way, one channel run properly beats two run thinly, and that is more true here than in a larger market.
Does my website need to be in Assamese?
Rarely a full second version. Almost always some Assamese or Hindi in the ad creative, carried through to the landing page for consumer categories.
Do you work with businesses outside Guwahati?
Yes — across Assam and the wider Northeast, and from our offices in New Delhi and Auburn, Washington.
